Crash Bandicoot already dead

Posted on Nov 4, 2008 04:16:20 PM

In the 90`s Crash dominated Playstation with blockbuster titles such as CTR, Crash 2 and 3. When Naughty Dog left the franchice slowly ditilurated with crappy ideas and concepts. Its sad that he was initially Sony`s mascot but now nobody wants him anymore and Sony probably replaced him with Sackboy (from Little Big Planet). Today there are many games out there to buy like Fallout 3, Banjo Kazooie and Super Mario Galaxy so the little orange whatever is slowly coming to a close.

The Playstation 2 is arguably the best system… ever.

Posted on Nov 4, 2008 04:15:32 PM

Think about it, the Playstation 2 has been out forever, the year 2000 to be exact. It as a whole has over 1,800 games on the market. Even recent games that are being developed, Guitar Hero World Tour, Spiderman: Web of Shadows and Star Wars The Force Unleashed come to mind.

Granted these may not be the best games, or the best looking, but the fact the Playstation 2 has been out for more than 8 years and still has games being made for it is amazing. On top of that, the Playstation 2 never had a MAJOR issue with the hardware. It`s a fairly reliable system, I got mine in mid 2000 and it still runs perfectly. Even though I have had to clean the eye a few times, but I`ll donate an hour or two of my time to get a piece of 8 year old hardware to work.

The Playstation 2 has also had over 140 MILLION units sold. I still see people buying new Playstation 2`s every once in awhile, and it makes perfect sense that they do. The Playstation 2 has the best line-up for games, at least in my honest opinion.

Some of my favorite games of all time have been Playstation 2 games. Granted I`m a bit of an RPG nut, and the Playstation 2 feed to this addiction, I still believe that it has some of the best games out on the market, even still today. I constantly revisit my Playstation 2 to play titles from Final Fantasy X, X-2, and XII, Champions of Norrath, Sukioden, all the way to games like Devil May Cry 3, Siphon Filter, and Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 & 3. This system offers the best of all worlds, and a friendly controller scheme.

In comparisson to today`s consoles, I still believe the PS2 to be superior, at least for now. It has existed for a much longer time, has an extensive library of THOUSANDS of games, still runs some of today`s titles, and so much more. The quality of the games can also rival games coming out as of recently.

I don`t know if anyone else has seemed to notice this, but a fair portion of games being released lately, both console and PC, have been more focused on the aesthetic looks rather then the quality of the game and story. Bare in mind I have played most new releases of games, and quite enjoy a fair few of them. I`ve been addicted to Fallout 3 and FIFA 09 in the past week or so, so I`m also a modern day entrepreneur of games, but it seems like worse quality games have been produced for the newer systems. Some games are almost completley focused on graphics; the one thing I look for in a game is a compelling story, a structured gameplay, and some sort of soundtrack that can capture the elements of the game. (This doesn`t apply to sports games, I look for different things in those)

But the synopsis is such that the Playstation 2 is in fact an amazing system, with a list of games that is nearly endless, and still manages to somehow suck away the free time I pretend to make myself have. This is just my opinion, I`m wondering if anyone else may share the same views as I do.

If you read the entire thing, thank you for taking the time to understand someone else`s point of view, or maybe find someone else that shares the same overall perspective on gaming.

What`s with the truck in Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow/Fire Red/Leaf Green?!

Posted on Nov 3, 2008 12:31:24 AM

In my Pokemon Red Version, I used the gameshark to get back into the S.S. Anne after it supposedly left. Yes, I`m quite aware that about a million people have done this and found the same thing that I found. There is a random truck on the area surrounding the S.S. Anne. In Leaf Green, I deliberately never spoke to the Captain and instead traded for a Pokemon with Cut so that I could progress in the game, but the S.S. Anne never leaves. So I went back when I got Surf, and the truck is still there! I even got there without cheating this time, and found out that someone had to make a conscious decision to keep it in! I mean, it even had updated graphics for the GBA! Yes, I have heard that you can use Strength on it to find Mew, I fell for that and it didn`t work. I used the Itemfinder on every possible part of the screen, and found…a stinking Lava Cookie! This is my reward for finding this super-secret area? An item that basically works like a stinking Full Heal that I can go buy for about 600 at just about any store? I refuse to believe that the truck is just an Easter Egg. I mean, by putting it there and keeping it in Fire Red and Leaf Green, they acknowledge that it`s possible to get back there! And if your reward is seeing some random truck just sitting there, what kind of a reward is that? Someone please help!

Ayone Remembers Rainbow Chaser?

Posted on Nov 3, 2008 12:31:12 AM

It was a game for Commodore 64. Pure platforming. Anyone remembers it?

I tried to get into Fire Emblem but I just can`t.

Posted on Nov 3, 2008 12:14:48 AM

Hey everyone. I really liked FF Tactics (PS), and Advance Wars DS. So I thought I`d check out Intell Systems` take on the middle ages combat thing. Well I can`t get into it because once you lose a character that character is gone for good. It`s not like FF tactics where you have a chance to revive the character or win the match before the death timer goes out. So pretty much to win a level in Fire Emblem you have to pwn the computer and basically have zero casualties. I really wouldn`t mind losing a character every once in a while, but the thing is once you lose a certian character class there`s no way to get that character class back ever agian. If Mathew the theif dies in combat you have to go without a theif for the whole game. WTF?! Anyway is there any reason why I shouldn`t return this game to the store? Are there any better FE games that don`t have these problems?

Remember the Cla$$ics No: 1 -Castle of Illusion-.

Posted on Nov 2, 2008 09:03:37 PM

These threads are going to be aimed at great games that has the possibility of being forgotten and that would be a crime against great games and the developers that created these games.

No: 1

Castle of Illusion.

Platforms: Sega Genesis (Mega Drive), Sega Game Gear and Sega Master System (Could be more).

This game is a great cla$$ic and a superb platformer that was released in 1990 on the Sega consoles.

It features Mickey Mouse (Yeah Disney games could be great in the 8, and 16-bit era) in his search for his old lady that has been kidnapped by the evil witch .

This game has great graphics (for a 16-bit Sega Genesis game), great music and tight controls.

The amazing Intro:

Movie

Stage 1:

Movie

I would recommend this game to any fan of 2D Platformers, Disney fans or any gamer that would like to enjoy a great Cla$$ic.

Hopefully this game ends up on Nintendo`s Virtual Console because this Cla$$ics deserves to be remembered.
