good pc dvd player

what is a good program to run dvd`s on a pc. i have a 24 inch widescreen monitor but the crappy program that plays my dvd`s just now doesn`t let me set the aspect ration to widescreen so the film looks crap. it runs it in 4:3 and everything looks blurry.

thanks, allan

Help Needed – DX 10

Posted on Nov 8, 2008 10:51:02 PM

I`m back again, if you don`t remember I had problems yesturday…

I was looking at Gamespot`s walkthrough with Vista and I came across this…

“We don`t have DirectX 10 games yet, but the platform is ready to go sitting within Vista. You will need a DirectX 10-compatible video card, but at least you don`t have to worry about getting one for a few more months. If you`re itching to get your hands on one now, your only options are the GeForce 8800 GTX and the GeForce 8800 GTS. Our advice is to wait. More affordable DX10 cards will arrive before Crysis ships.”

Do you really need a graphics card that has DX 10? Does this mean I have to either pay over 500$ now? Or wait until they release some cheaper ones later? I was planning on getting a mid-high end-ish card this weekend, and it isn`t a 8800, will it work or am I screwed?

Thanks in advance,

Dual Monitor Setup problem

Posted on Nov 8, 2008 10:50:38 PM

Does anyone here know why PowerDVD doesn`t play video when I move it to my secondary monitor?  It works just fine on my primary display…
Is it a setting in the catalyst control panel, PowerDVD`s settings…what?

>>> $3,000 PC or $3,000 MacBook Pro 17"!?!?!?!?

Posted on Nov 8, 2008 10:50:38 PM

I can`t decide between the two… I am either choosing between a $3,000 PC that I`ll build with the help of some friends or a nice $3,000 MacBook Pro 17 incher. I don`t really game but, I do play WoW and Warcraft 3 a lot.

The reason why I`m spending so much is because I`m planning to keep this computer for another three years or so. I actually want a MacBook Pro because I`m always moving around but, I just want to see your oppinions on this.

Thanks!

HELP ME OUT! PLEASE!

Need Quick reply, Comp is heating up need to know how to cool it down

Posted on Nov 8, 2008 10:50:17 PM

Hey,
My comp is heating up while I play NFS MW and I used to usually play it fine. Every time it heats up it makes a beeping noise thats pretty load and very annoying. I have a temp reader and while I play NFS MW it goes up to 75C, i know the temp reader makes a noise but when I turn it off the computer makes the beeping noise. Anyways how can I cool it down without buying anything, my rig is in my sig and I have everything turned max in NFS, I did try turning it down but it didnt help much.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

r600 can support quad setup

http://theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=37484

WE LEARNED one more critical detail about the R600. The chip can and will support Quad setups. It will work with four cards. ATI has been working to solve the four card performance problem for a while. Nvidia tried it and we tested the Quad SLI with two 7950 GX2 cards but we got super lame performances out of it

Think its worth it?

Hi, I have a AMD 64 3400+ socket 754 and a X1950pro 512mb agp VC.

but I only have 1gb Corsair XMS ram, I found a single 1GB stick of G.Skill PC3200 DDR400 for only $70 and the reviews on it are 10/10.

Well you think I should add that extra 1GB of ram? I am trying to get my system to hold me off until the end of 2007 and I already have the card and cpu (OCed from 2.2ghz to 2.5ghz) to do it, but the game might be lacking.

I do play tons of games and the newest ones too.  Also my socket doesnt support dual channel so tossing in another stick wont upset anything.

What do you think?
