There are my specs. Thanks!

can i have a video card with an intefrated video adapter??

Posted on Nov 8, 2008 10:49:54 PM

The following may seem like a dumb question…

My comp has an ATI Radeon xpress 200, I think that its an integrated video adapter, at least something along those lines. Anyway I have a free pci-express slot but Im not sure if I can put in just any video card. For example do you think a nvidia video card would work seeing as its an `ATI` integrated video adapter thing.

Also if I should be able to install a video card does anyone have a reccommendation, I have roughly £100 to spend on one.

Finally found a game that cripples my rig.

I have had my gaiming rig for almost 4 years now (with a RAM and GPU upgrade 2 years ago) and I finally found a game I cant run. Granted Oblivion almost brought it to its knees, but still played med. settings with low details and no lag though. I downloaded Supreme commander and i felt Like I was on a P3 with a voodoo gfx card. Even on lowest settings, any amount of troops would have serious lag, to the point that it wasnt playable.

I thought Crysis was going to be the game that broke the camels back, turns out it was an RTS that did it in. Oh well, buh-bye Athlon XP, hello C2D

Ok my problem is that when i try to view a streaming user movie, i don`t hear anything. But if a watch lets say a game trailer using media player or quick time i can hear audio. I have been trying to figure it out on my own but can`t seem to get it to work. Now it doesn`t only happen on the GS web site, im just using it as an example. I tried the hitman blood money site too, and i can`t hear anything on there either, and im pretty sure i have flashplayer because i have only had this problem just resently. So if you guys no whats up with my comp i would very much appreciat you telling me whats up, thanks.

Tri-monitor?

Posted on Nov 8, 2008 10:49:10 PM

I am thinking about setting up a surround-gaming screen setup for my PC, but do not wish to spend $2,000+ on a special, 3 screen monitor. I already have three of the same type of monitor; is there some way I can set my PC to span across all three?

I am currently using an nVidia XFX 7950GX2, and am at the moment running it with dual-monitor output. But when I play games like this there is a large split down the middle, which is very annoying. Now the problem is that my graphics card only has two DVI outputs, meaning I am short one.

Is there any possible way, given my circumstances, to set up a tri-monitor output?

Ordered comp, questions about when I get the parts.

Posted on Nov 8, 2008 10:49:00 PM

I ordered all the parts off newegg today. My main concern, is when I get them all and have to put it all together (first time).

I read stuff and watched videos on how to put it all together and information about plugging everything in. But my main concern is going to be dealing with the bios the first time it boots up.

I have never dealt with the bios before and am not exactly sure what I am going to do. I think I am supposed to partition the hd and also set up what gets booted up first and stuff?

Note, I have a floppy drive, DVD drive and a hd. Nothing else for boot up devices I don`t think. So is there going to be a specific order I will have to set them as?

Incase this is of any help I will post the specs.

EVGA 680I mobo

Thermaltake Armor silver aluminum atx

EVGA 8800gtx video card

Corsair 620w power supply

Intel Core 2 extreme QX6700

Patriot 2GB ddr 2 800 (pc6400

Western digital 320mb hd

Creative x-fi Xtreme gamer sound card

Sony floppy drive

NEC DVD/CD rw drive

I mainly just want to know what I am going to have to set up before I can install the OS and get everything working (going straight to windows vista home premium unless I can find my xp cd somewhere around the house).

Also, I ordered an anti static wrist strap just to be careful but have never used it before. I heard you can just attach the clip to like any unpainted piece of metal, does that mean I should like attach it to a metal piece inside the case or just something else?

Sorry for my noob questions and thanks for all your help.

Is this a good multi core PC?

Asus A8S-X Socket 939 Barebone Kit / FREE 512MB USB 2.0 FlyDrive / AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 OEM / CPU Fan / ATX Mid-Tower Case / 500 Watt Power Supply

I am assuming I can use the RAM I have now in my PC.  I have 2GB of PC3200.  I also plan on getting a SATA Raid drive for it, I assume they are better then IDE (faster).
