I own both the PS3 and 360 and i have to say that while i do think the 360 is overall the better console due to its current game library (which will change in the PS3`s favor sooner than later) I do think however the XMB is just overall more user friendly and more free than the dashboard.. I love being able to browse the web while listening to music.. Heck, I could spend hours downloading user created themes on PSU.com from the webbrowser and just browsing the PS Store.. And also xbox live marketplace feels a little cluttered compared to the new refined PS store.. With the PS store you actually feel like its a game store whereas with marketplace its just a list of stuff. Overall i find the XMB to be more user friendly and just easier and more fun to navigate.. anyone else agree?!

I`ve posted this already in a thread ( with the question if all games that got a ten deserve it ), but i want to know your opinions on the subject! ( and please, let it not be some fanboyisch discussion and maybe with some guy`s that are longer here then yesterday ). And it`s not because it`s PS3 game that i got my doubts about it, but because two tens in a month is silly! If gears of war 2 get`s a ten, i wouldn`t agree either! ( if it`s not revolutionary ).

Okay, this is the first time i ever post at gamespot, but i have been keeping up with system wars for about five years. ( Not to be amused with these little gamewars among gamers , but for this is a great place to get information about games really fast! )

I think OOT deserves his 10 out of 10 score completely! I just started playing GTA V … the other ones i never played! But let me get back at OOT! Gamespot`s review, among others, called OOT flawless ( for it`s time, it was IMO ). For doubters i quote ` Ocarina of time definitely follows in the footsteps of the previous games, and the result is a game that can`t be called anything other then flawless ` and ` In a word, perfect. To call it anything else would be a bald-faced lie. `

The controls were perfect, the sound was perfect, the world was, back in that day, really brought to life with an awsome story! It was a game that was revolutionary! Even for it`s graphics … From the review: graphically, ocarina of time is simply unmatched! EVEYTHING was the best for it`s time!

Now, lets get back to todays standards! GTA V and MGS V! Beautifull crafted awsome games… i will never play the last so, even i`m in xbox360`s favor, i can`t really judge for myself! But do they both have perfect controls? very good, but not perfect! perfect graphics, the best for it`s time ? no …. ( and 20 min. loadtime is just too much ) revolutionary ? no… inspiring? yes, in some places! It only think games that really offer a so called ` best in everything experience` deserve a ten! For example, one of my favorite games ever ` halo: CE `. It did everything so well, but it wasn`t revolutionary! it was a 10 out of 10 experience for me, but in the world of gaming, it`s not ( as it should be )!

That`s wat happened, reviewers enjoy games like a 10/10 experience, and they judge it that way … without thinking if there`s more behind that experience! But in gamespots case, they can`t give MGS V and GTA V a 9.9 or 9.8 … with there stupid review system… we`ll never now if they were REAL 10`s! The scoringsystem here invites the reviewer to give a ten quicker then before! Let me explain: Halo 3, world in conflict, SSBB, crysis, super mario galaxy, the orange box … all 9.5! (ironicly, i thought back then that gamespot was giving away to much high scores :roll But if you then play one game that is a little bit better, A reviewer is forced to give a ten, there`s no way out! Gamespot couldn`t give al games a 9.5 here! so they have to give more … that is indirecly lowering you`re standards IMO.

But for me a 10 is a game that gives you a 10/10 experience in a perfect way, and more!

ok with the summer who already starde i just got a new job and i want to buy a next gen console but i like halo 3 and metal gear i will like even more . So Basiclly what i am asking for is can anybady can give good reason and well explained why should i buy a console over a other one

so what do you people, the gamespot community think the best console right now is and why?, i myself like ps3 for the games like mgs4, r&c future and uncharted thats not all the games i like but you guys get the idea i also like it because it`s a good blu-ray player, online is free(even if it is a bit buggy), and i like the promise of hopefully great games such as but not limited to ff13/vs13, uncharted 2, siren, r2, kz2, and lbp. so what is your best console in your opinion and i don`t want morons that just post and say “Wii owns cause of ssbb!” or “360 has halo!” , and “mgs4 is best so it means ps3 is good!” cause no one wants to hear a bunch of fanboys.

What the console that you consider most “hardcore” this gen and why.

What in your opinion is a Hardcore game and what do consider not hardcore but casual…

In my opinion Hardcore games are NOT sports games, FPS or RTS and racing games on consoles of course this is just my OPINION and not Fact…

This is what I consider Hardcore game FPS on PC like DoD & counterstrike as well as others to numerous to list as well as Some PC RTS and RPG games again to numerous to list does this mean there are no Hard core games on the consoles no but not what most of you Kiddies think…

Hardcore games on console are Trauma Center, Zelda, Metroid maybe even Mario but NOT Halo 3 NOT Oblivion NOT ME NOT GTA IV why because IMHO FPS are for Casual KIDDIES on consoles one visit to Xbox live convinced me of this. As for RPG if its out on PC it is a much fuller experience therefore more hardcore however that does not mean that you are not a dedicated game player or that you are not hardcore it just means to be real about games if you are a hardcore gamer or just like to play well crafted games then you do not prejudice or opinion by what system the game is on, to me it is more about playing for enjoyment and that does not involve swearing gangster wannabe 12 year old on Xbox live Thank you.

To to sum PC and Wii >>> far more so called hardcore then 360 and for that matter PS3 >>360… this is of course just an Opinion…FYI

Just a quick query about the taboos of S.W. Are we still using the “only gamespot matters“ mentality or have we adopted the broader range of reveiws at say Gamerankings and Metacritic? I ask this because Ive been seeing alot of differnet, conflicting opinons on the matter (Gamespot isnt credable, Gamerankings dont count, only Gamespot matters, to bad its better on Gamerankings etc.)

In my opinion we should be using every rescource availble to give each and every game a fair reveiw system, I think that Sytem Wars should count a games worth through a wider varity of professional opinions instead of just one, both to be fairer on the game and its audeince, heaven knows this is the most popular “video game debate forum“ On the web, so this seems like a pretty good move to me.

So Im interested in your opinion, what do you think??

How many times do we see this here in System Wars?

* Wii is a fad and will fall into 3rd, FACT!!
* 360 is maxed out after just 1 year, FACT!!
* PS3 failed out of the gate and will be Sony`s last console, FACT!!
* 360`s library lacks diversity, FACT!!
* PC gaming costs $4000, with yearly $1000 upgrades, FACT!!
* Wii appeals to grannies only, FACT!!
* PS3 has no good games, FACT!! (even before MGS4, clearly false)
* PC gaming is dying, FAAAAAAAAAAAAACT!!!!!!

It just amazes me how many people are incapable of distinguishing opinion and their own speculation from fact. Let me be very clear here. This board like any other on the internet, is all about the sharing - though probably more often the clashing of opinions We are all entitled to our opinions and if you`re posting that here, expect to support it, defend it, to hear opposing viewpoints.

But please, for the love of Pong, enough with trying to pass off your opinion as a “fact”. What ever is your opinion is yours to post, but when the word “fact” or “reality check” or something very similar, actually appears in the body of the message (or worse yet the topic title) that`s when you cross the line from stating your opinion to trying to falsely present facts.

Unless you can provide some credible source of factual data, all you have is your opinion and/or personal speculation. And again, by all means, share your opinions on these boards of who will be the ultimate victor for this console war, which game has the best graphics, the better library, or what ever. It`s a different matter entirely if the word “fact” is put in there where it can`t be backed up.

This misrepresentation of facts has gotten so out of hand here. And most of it by trolls who realize their topic has more impact by doing so. The mods have their hands full locking topics that try the “what I say is fact” approach, which turns out to be nothing more than flamebait. And then there`s the rest of us that have to go through this over and over again with the TC; “Your opinion =/= fact”. Yeah it should be obvious and all, but we shouldn`t have to get into that. It`s just a needlessly repetitous cycle here and I think it`s time to break that cycle.

Which is why I`d like to see the mods suspending anyone who uses the word “fact” or “reality” in their posts where no data supports, by 1 week… maybe even 2. Enough is enough, and I think suspensions will be the only way to curb this behavior and get people to actually consider what they say, and how they present their posts.
