Red Faction: Guerrilla Demo Freed

The single-player demo of Volition’s promising third-person shooter title Red Faction: Guerrilla is getting its public release today. Previously, the downloadable demo was only available to players that had pre-ordered the game (via a download token.) The floodgates are opening now however, and the demo is already available via the Xbox Live Marketplace for 360 gamers.

PlayStation 3 owners are expected to be able to grab the demo from the PlayStation Network Store a little later on today, but those poor old PC Red Faction fans are crap outta luck; there’s no word on when or if the demo will release for the PC crowd.

A bit about the game:

As protagonist Alec Mason, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to stick it to them, whether you’re on a mission or on an impromptu demolition derby. Guerrilla sees the EDF morphed from the series’ good guys into the oppressive rulers who have turned Mars into a police state.

After joining your brother and the rest of the Red Faction, your job becomes to take out the EDF and build “colonist” morale at the same time. While killing EDF soldiers helps the Red Faction’s cause, smashing the EDF’s concrete and steel infrastructure works just as well, and is more immediately satisfying.

The retail version of Red Faction: Guerrilla is due to hit both consoles and PC on June 9th in the States and June 30th in Europe.
