seriously.. Sony is so close to locking down this gen its not even funny.. All they need to do is just drop the 40 GB all together and keep the MGS4 PS3 bundle and lower the price to $349.99 and i guarantee that it will be the top selling console month after month! Yes even outselling the Wii with flying colors!! Throw in that bluetooth headset included with every 80 GB modeland they will be set all gen! Heck that PS3 bundle could last all gen for the next several years.. The MGS brand is so timeless and represents the playstation brand so well that they could keep that 80 GB SKU for the next several years to come

Going to say straight away that i`m a more of a lemming that a cow, have both enjoy both though. Every other console maker has updated there controller i think it`s called progress no?

The N64 controller was a massive step forward at the time and i believe that at the moment the 360`s controller is way the best. There is nothing bad about the PS3 controller but the ergonomics and design are way over 10 years old. Don`t understand why they would still keep that design? Don`t think that it`s got anything to with brand awareness or money. Did they just run out of time? And before the cows bash me wouldn`t you want a new controller? i know i would for my PS3.

I was looking on the Internet and I found some interesting rumors about Sony working on a new motion sensing controller, apparently it was going to be a controller that you break apart and would have technology much like the wiimote, but it seems that the breakable controller has been trashed. Also it has been rumored that Sony will be creating sensing pads that you will put on your head, hands and around the body. Its also common knowledge that MS is creating a motion sensing controller and its rumored that its also going to be shown at E3 and it will be out by Christmas, here are some more links:

so with MS and Sony following in Nintendo`s footsteps in making new motion sensing controllers, does this mean that next gen we could be seeing all the controllers for consoles being motion sensitive and no ordinary controllers? In some ways I think that it will make games more immersive but if you are playing a game online like COD4 would this be a help or a hindrance?

I sort of like the idea but I am a little apprehensive, on one side its one step closer to what you see on movies with fully interactive games, but then it might also make games less enjoyable and more difficult.

It is no secret that Microsoft wants to be the first to bring out the newest in the next-generation games console. They were the first with the first of the next-gen consoles, the Xbox 360 and they now wish to do this again with the Xbox 720. Many believe that Microsoft made a huge mistake rushing the production of the Xbox 360, the company has had a string of troubles with the console, but it now seems as if they are finally on top of these problems.

Xbox 360 boss Robbie Bach, has been speaking in an interview with Venture Beat, he said that if you asked him whether being first to the market with Xbox 360 was the right decision, he`d say “definitely yes,” and the platform holder has a desire to do it again with the next console. He also added “The last cycle for the original Xbox was a little shorter than typical (at four years). We started way late.” He then went on to say “If you take the question of whether it was the right thing to try to be first with Xbox 360, the answer to that is definitely yes. It has given us a leg up in a number of places that are super important.”

When asked on his expectation for the next console`s release plans, he said it was “too early to tell.” Many people will be thinking that Microsoft is involved in a race against Sony so that they can launch the Xbox 720 before the PS4, but Sony have stated recently that they are in no rush to launch the PS4, so Xbox might just have the Xbox 720 ready for us by 2011. But this might just play in to Sony`s hands once again.

Sony`s Sixaxis controller was, admitted in hindsight, largely a product of the lawsuit with Immersion over the rumble feature in Sony`s controllers. Once the matter was settled, rumble came back in the DualShock 3, but it seems Sony could still be sizing up new options for controllers to compete with their stiffest competition, the Wii.

GamesIndustry.bizreports that the company is working on a new controller for the PlayStation 3 that can “break” into two separate controllers for motion-sensing purposes. Similar to the Wiimote and nunchuck, both controller halves would contain accelerometers for individual motion-sensing. The report goes on to state that working units of the new controller may have already been supplied to certain developer partners of Sony.

There`s no word about an impending announcement or whether the individual pieces of the controller would each be equipped with rumble. Without official word from the company, this is all rumor and speculation at this point, but a reveal may come in a month at this year`s E3. We`ll keep you posted.

YEh well me and mi m8s have a bit of banter during free periods about gaming and they all have 360~s and always slag off the ps3 (which I own). I know that the ps3 is great, thats why I bought one. But can some sony fans give me some good comebacks for mi m8s to shut them up about the `greatness` of the ps3?

I own both the 360 and ps3 and im mainly an online gamer.The fact is i like both of those systems but i hate playing multiplayer games on my ps3.My main problem with my ps3 is the fact that i wanna play games like resistance and metal gear online and actually be able to talk with my friends and other players.My friends and i can rarley ever hear each other and almost never hear anyone else.Why doesnt sony release a standard sony brand headset and fix these problems.At first i thought it was my blue tooth headset that was giving me the problem but then i went out and bought a more expensive one and i had the same problems.Microsoft really did a fantastic job setting up there online and id love to at least have a similar experience on the ps3.I just want a standard sony headset,does anyone know of anything coming out?If not does anyone have any advice on what i should do as far as voice chat on my ps3 goes?

We have seen the battle, now lay witness to the Aftermath as it proceeds. This is the first time ever for a Sony console that a developer whos game sold over one million copies needed to halt development on the sequel, because it was not seen as “commercially viable” enough on that system.

I am very interested in listening to the excuses concocted by the Sony Defence Force on this forum.
EDIT: With denial it seems. The entire story was just given a “Not Bogus” report by Gamespot. Rules are rules.

Microsoft gets a lot of criticism for “…its business tactics, often described with the motto “embrace, extend, and extinguish”. Microsoft initially embraces a competing standard or product, then extends it to produce their own incompatible version of the software or standard, which in time extinguishes competition” This post may seem like a fanboy response but it truly is just an observation. I find it very ironic that Sony has now officially announced what will be in its 2.4v firmware update, and to be honest they are trying to embrace what microsoft has already done on the 360 by incorporating trophies aka achievements and an in-game menu system aka the blades on 360.

In general Sony`s new system, the ps3, has done many more things, mainly in regards with their online gaming, to entirely copy cat microsoft and the xbox 360`s reigning console online gaming. I personally dont think that sony will be the juggernaut that microsoft is in the pc industry but it is frustrating that nobody criticizes sony when they pull a move in a business that they for the most part have owned the past 6-8 years that is very similiar to the copying movies that microsoft does in the pc market.

The main reason i play my 360 is because its online community and capabilities are so much better than playstations but now sony is going to incorporate the same things that xbox does in their system in an attempt to wipe out the competition. I cant blame them for doing it, but then again i cant blame microsoft for doing it also. Both companies want to succeed. But i do nt want to hear sony fanboys complain about how they wont buy a microsoft product because they bully people around when it comes to pc`s because sony is trying to do that very same thing right now in consoles.
